New Year’s Eve is less than six months away! We’re giving you lots of notice! This year, Colborne will have a real New Year’s Eve party and dance! We’re bringing in the high-energy live country/rock band Sawmill Road! Based out of Northumberland county, Sawmill Road’s founding members Rob Hood and Duane Eddy had been friends for almost their entire lives before forming Sawmill Road in 2006.
After performing only a handful of shows on their own, the band was hired by Canadian country music star John Landry to perform as his stage band. Sawmill Road has since shared the stage with big name Canadian acts such as The Corb Lund Band, Amanda Wilkinson, Tara Lynn Hart, Tommy Cash and Julian Austin.
In 2012, band members Duane Eddy and Rob Hood took their songwriting to a new level writing in Nashville with some top hit songwriters. 2013 sees a new incarnation of Sawmill Road along with the release of their debut CD “Cryin’, Lovin’ & Drinkin”. The New Year’s Eve event includes a celebratory meal, special party favours andlots fun. More details to come, but mark your calendars now. This is one you won’t want to miss!
As we head back into the autumn scheduling, take note: the regular monthly executive committee and membership meetings resume. On Tuesday, Sept. 17, 7 p.m., the first fall executive committee meeting is scheduled followed by the regular membership meeting at 7:30 p.m. at the branch. This is your opportunity to have a say, let us know how we can better serve you, etc.. Meetings never go on for a long time so there’s lots of time left in the evening to settle your other demands.
Colborne Legion Branch 187 is proud to donate $100 to the Second Annual Road Hockey Fundraiser for children aged eight to 13 years being held in Colborne Sept. 22.
